Joseph Mays
Medical historian, ethnobotanist, and multidisciplinary artist.
My studies center Indigenous ontologies in biocultural conservation, and my personal practice is dedicated to intercultural alliance and counter-colonial resistance. I aspire to highlight the fundamental importance of our relationships with a society of beings, both human and more-than-human. Those relationships determine the nature of our individual and collective well-being, and the outcome of healing work. Our obligation is a devotion to grassroots Indigenous and local organizations fighting for land rights, ecological wellbeing, food security, and economic justice.
